Our hours of operation are 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Except for Monday morning check-in, please do not drop off campers in the morning before 8:50. Pickup at the end of the day will be at Field #5 at 3:00 PM.
Where do we check-in on the first day of Camp?
All campers must "check-in" at the registration table at Field #5 on Monday morning between 8:30-8:55. Look for the camp banner on the backstop. If you have a balance due for fees, it must be paid at this time. Campers will receive a camp T shirt at check-in. |
In the event of rain or other weather concerns, we will take shelter in the warming area adjacent to the pool complex. Camp is not cancelled due to inclement weather.
What does my child need to bring to Camp?
Campers must bring a lunch, baseball glove, hat, water bottle (we provide drinks), swimsuit, and towel, and are highly encouraged to bring sunscreen. Although not required, many campers also bring their own batting helmet and/or bat, but these items are provided at camp. PLEASE LABEL glove and all other gear with your camper's name! Refrigeration is not available for lunches.
Cleats are recommended, as they provide better traction, but they are not required. Sneakers are fine.
Also, most campers wear shorts. Baseball pants are not required, but may be worn if preferred.
Campers are strongly encouraged not to bring a cell phone to camp. If a camper brings a cell phone to camp it must remain in their backpack at all times, and they assume all liability for damage or loss. All other electronic devices are prohibited at camp.
How do you handle the lunch hour and swim period?
Campers eat lunch in the warming area at the pool complex. They must bring their own lunch; the pool snack bar is not open. We provide drinks. We ask that campers not be given hard candy for lunch. They will then have a recreational swim period in the pool, after which they will return to the fields for the afternoon session of baseball activities. Campers are supervised at all times by Camp staff during lunch and swim period. Refrigeration is not available for lunches.
Campers are tested on Monday by the Park's Head Lifeguard to determine if they are a "swimmer" or "non-swimmer" and will be given a wrist band to identify their swimming ability. We ask that campers keep their bands on the entire week of camp.
My child is not a very good athlete, but loves baseball. Would the Bob Bellizzi Grand Slam Baseball Camp be suitable for such a child?
Absolutely! Everything we do centers around the campers having a good time in a safe environment. We want all campers to have a positive, confidence-building experience, while having fun each day. Skill levels vary tremendously, and that is taken into consideration by our counselors during all camp activities.
Yes. Each year, Bellizzi Baseball Camp receives official certification from the Albany County Health Department to operate as a summer baseball day camp, in accordance with the New York State Public Health Law and State Regulations. In addition, Health Department staff perform a minimum of two on-site compliance inspections of the Camp each summer.
Our counselors bring many years of coaching and playing experience to the Bob Bellizzi Grand Slam Baseball Camp, including current baseball coaches from CBA and Bethlehem Central HS, and current and former players and coaches from the Albany Twilight Baseball League and college baseball programs. In addition, as required by New York State Health Department regulations for all summer camps, two of our counselors hold current certifications from the American Red Cross in the administration of First Aid, CPR, and AED, and one counselor is currently certified by the American Red Cross in Lifeguard Management.
