Camp Program Director & Head Coach  -  Michael Bellizzi

Entering his 8th year as Camp Program Director and Head Coach, Delmar native Mike Bellizzi will lead campers through a fun-filled summer experience!  By blending skills training and drills, with scrimmages and competitive games, he will ensure that campers are fully engaged and enjoy their time at Bellizzi Baseball Camp each day.

The son of camp founder Bob Bellizzi, the late Head Baseball Coach at The College of Saint Rose, Michael has been part of Bellizzi Baseball Camp for close to 30 years, first as a camper, then counselor, and now overseeing our staff.  Growing up in the Town of Bethlehem, Mike participated in many sports including soccer, football, and basketball, but his love for baseball always stood out above them all.

He coached and played for the Albany Senators in the Albany Twilight Baseball League for 10 years, leading the Senators to the 2014 Twilight League Championship as the youngest head coach to do so in the league's 94-year history.  He also coached baseball at Christian Brothers Academy for 12 years, where he was part of the coaching staff that won the 2021 NYS Section II championship.  Certified in childhood and special education, he is currently a 6th grade teacher at Sand Creek Middle School in the South Colonie School District, where he also coaches football and baseball.

A graduate of The College of Saint Rose and Bethlehem Central High School, Coach Mike was a member of the Varsity Baseball team at BCHS, where he was a Suburban Council All-Star selection and team captain in 2008. He also played on teams in various youth baseball programs in the Town of Bethlehem, and was a member of the Tri-Village Little League 12 year-old All Star team that was runner-up for the New York State Little League Championship in 2002.

Away from the ball field, you can expect to see Coach Mike running in a local 5K race, at a concert, or sporting event.  He is big a fan of the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, Montreal Canadiens, and idolized Dallas Cowboy great Emmitt Smith growing up - and still does to this day!
